Why not all apps can be moved to the external storage?
Beginning with Android 2.2(froyo), developers can allow their applications to be installed on the external storage (for example, the device's SD card). This is an optional feature developers can declare for their applications. If developers do not declare it, their applications will be installed on the internal storage only and it cannot be moved to the external storage. If you find any non-movable apps, please kindly email developers (not us) for details.
What is the app cache? Is it safe to clear them?
The app cache storage is used for applications to cache some data. When the device is low on internal storage space, Android may delete these cache files to recover space; hence it is safe for you to clear the cached files manually. The "Clear cache" function may not work for your device. Please send us the phone model, Android OS version information if this function does not work on your device.
Can all apps be installed on the external storage?
If app uses any of the following features, it cannot be installed on the external storage. It's required by Android system.
App Widgets, Services, Input Method Engines, Live Wallpapers, Live Folders, Alarm Services, Account Managers, Sync Adapters, Device Administrators
You can add apps to the ignore list if you don't want to move them to the external storage.
Will it auto install my apps after switching to a new phone?
This app is not used to backup apps to SD card. It only helps you to move a portion of apps used space to SD card. You have to manually install the apps after switching to a new phone or perform a hard reset.
Failed to upgrade apps that installed on the SD card, or move apps to SD card?
Please first make sure that you are not connecting your phone with PC as an USB disk,
then try to upgrade or move the app again. If you still get the problem, it should be caused
by the bug of Android system. Please follow the instructions below to fix it
(WARNING: These instructions are for advanced, technical users only, use at your own risk):
For Windows users
It takes time to list apps on startup. Can you improve it?
It can be improved by saving apps information. We don't want to take this approach as it needs the extra phone internal storage space for saving the information. We keep improving the loading speed by using another approach.
Do I need to ROOT my phone to use this app?
No, you don't. This app supports either non-root or rooted Android v2.2+ devices.
App icons disappearing from home screen after device rebooted
It's the bug of Android. You can fix the problem by re-mount the SD card.
I have two external storages, AppMgr only moves apps to the internal USB storage.
Moving app to SD is handled by Android. AppMgr app only provides an UI for you to manage it. Currently, Android only supports the primary external storage (i.e. internal USB storage) for AppMgr. If you have two external storages, the external SD card usually is the secondary external storage. Android only moves apps to the primary external storage.
I cannot find the "Move to xxx" or "Change" button from application detailed information window.
Would you:
If you are using Android 6 or greater devices, please first tap "Storage" item and then tap the "Change" button to move app. Please also make sure that the SD card has been formatted as internal storage by going to: Launcher > Settings > Storage > SD card > MENU > Settings > Format as internal
If you cannot find the "Format as internal" option from your device, please visit https://goo.gl/ytW23g for more help.
What is the small grey SD card with an 'x' on it?
Please tap Learn more for more information.
Why "Hide apps" and "Freeze apps" items are disabled?
Due to the limitation of Android. These functions are only enabled for Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) or greater devices.
Why apps will automatically be unfrozen?
The following apps may be unfrozen:
The "Clear cache" command does not clear all cached files
First of all, Android won't clear cached files which create on the SD card. You can show the external cache size by checking the "Count app used SD size" option, and manually clean them by tapping the app item from the Cache cleaner window. If the primary external storage is emulated (it means that the storage is allocated using a portion of the internal storage), Android 4.2+ will also delete the cache files of primary external storage when clearing all cache.
The another problem is starting Android 4.2, Android prevents 3rd party apps to remove some cached files, so you may see few KB cache size left after you clear all cached files.
It does not automatically clear cache on Android 6 or greater devices
Android 6 or greater devices does not enable third party apps to clear cache. To clear cached data for all apps, you have to open system's Settings window, tap the "Storage" item and then tap the "Cached data" item. For your convenience, the "Clear cache" command will open the system Storage settings window for you to clear cache.
What is the red circle with an 'x'?
It means that this movable app has been added to the ignore list. AppMgr won't show the move app notification for ignored apps. You can remove it from the ignored list by long-pressing the app, then tapping the "Remove from the ignore list" option. An app can be added to the ignored list by long-pressing the app, then tapping the "Add to the ignore list" option. To hide ignored apps from the apps list, please go to: Settings > Hide ignored apps.
Can I uninstall multiple apps without confirmation for each app?
Yes, it can be done on a rooted device. Please first check both "Root access" and "Root uninstaller" options by going to Settings > Root-only functions. Please also grant the superuser permission when AppMgr requests it.
Can I move multiple apps without confirmation for each app?
Yes, it can be done on a rooted device. Please first check both "Root access" and "Root app mover" options by going to Settings > Root-only functions. Please also grant the superuser permission when AppMgr requests it.
It's too slow when moving apps with the root app mover.
The moving speed can be improved by converting AppMgr to a system app. You can use "/system/app mover"(free) or other similar apps to convert.
Why do I have to grant the accessibility access permission every time?
The problem is caused by the system power saving, CPU optimization, or task killer function force stops AppMgr in the background which will revoke the accessibility access permission. Please add AppMgr to the ignored list of such function. If you manually force stop AppMgr, the permission will be revoked as well, so system will ask you to grant the permission again when you execute the 1-tap clear cache function.
